After being held all over the world in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, USA and China, the competition is finally in Southeast Asia for the first time. Commenting on the overwhelming local response, Derek Callow, Head of Marketing for Google Southeast Asia, said, “Based on our experience in other parts of the world, we were pleasantly surprised to receive so many doodle entries from preschools to tertiary institutions, for a country the size of Singapore.”

The national winner, chosen by Google, will be announced on Apr 29 and will have his doodle published on www.google.com.sg during National Day 2010. He will also win a trip to Google’s headquarters to meet with the first Google Doodler, Dennis Hwang.

The winners from the 5 age groups will be decided by votes from the public, which ends tomorrow, so if you haven’t voted for your favourite doodles visit www.google.com.sg/doodle4google to do so.
