Whether you can thank our increasingly hip quotient with the IRs and F1 night races, thankfully, there’s been an upsurge of mainstream artistes choosing to perform in Singapore. In 2010, we saw the likes of Katy Perry, Kanye West, Slash and many more, as they praised the lively Singapore crowd in the process.
2011 promises to be another awesome year for concert-goers, with the number of acts that have been announced.

Four Year Strong & Set Your Goals
Come January 18, 2 of pop-punk’s most loved bands will be looking to bring the house down with their energetic live performances.
Expect a night full of passionate singing, jumping, crowd surfing and dancing, as Four Year Strong and Set Your Goals will definitely be making a statement – punk style.
Fans will never get bored of listening to Four Year Strong as the band continuously compose songs that they themselves would enjoy as listeners. Despite being signed to Pete Wentz’s record label, DecayDance Records, the quintet is not about to be complacent, choosing to tour extensively to reach out to their die-hard listeners.
Meanwhile, Set Your Goals have their eyes set on recording a new album in 2011.
The band’s current album, This Will Be The Death Of Us was ranked number 65 on the Billboard top 200 magazine, building on the success of their debut release.
The organisers, ECHO Productions and Prettig Productions, are expecting a sell-out crowd at the *SCAPE Warehouse. Their expectations might still be met. To date, their pre-sale tickets have been completely sold out. Fans of the bands can still purchase their tickets here.

It looks like the K-pop fever isn’t subsiding anytime soon. Due to overwhelming response, the Korean boy group has even added a second date here.
They’re so popular that the tickets for the initial January 29 show were snapped up within one and a half hours when the priority sales opened on November 20.

Taylor Swift
America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift will be looking to enchant her audience with her sweet, dulcet voice as the sensation is on tour to promote her latest album, Speak Now.
The 4-time Grammy winner is known for penning her personal thoughts into her songs.
“These songs are made up of words I didn’t say when the moment was right in front of me. These songs are open letters. Each is written with a specific person in mind, telling them what I meant to tell them in person,” she had said during her album launch.
The 21-year-old will be making her first performance in Singapore before proceeding to Hong Kong.

Miss May I
Miss May I will be looking to replicate the fervent, intense atmosphere that fellow Metalcore outfit Parkway Drive created at the Singapore Art Museum in 2009. The quintet from Ohio is setting foot on this tiny red dot for the first time as they are on tour for their sophomore album Monuments, which was released on August 17.
You won’t be disappointed if melodic death metal metal-esque guitar riffs and brutal breakdowns are your cup of tea. Besides, it’s a great way to meet your fellow Metalcore brethren to writhe and hardcore dance in the mosh pit.
Singapore will be the third pit stop for the band’s Southeast Asia tour. They will then proceed on to play 2 shows in Indonesia before heading back to Europe.

Asking Alexandria
Asking Alexandria can be dubbed as the Justin Bieber of Metalcore. By that we mean skinny jeans, long hair that covers the eyebrows as well as syncronised dance moves. Love them or hate them, you’re definitely in for a unique experience as fans can indulge in the amalgamation of electronica and post-hardcore.
Their EP, Life Gone Wild, was released on Dec 21. The record featured dubstep remixes (a.k.a “scene” music) of “A Single Moment of Sincerity” and “Not the American Average”. Ben Bruce, the guitarist told Alternative Press that the band hoped to “broaden the horizons and introduce people to another genre of music we love to listen to. Just fun and loud, alcohol-induced beats. Perfect for those drunken nights where you just can’t help but dance like a fool.”
There was a huge buzz in the local, underground music scene when it was announced that the band from York would be performing here. A Facebook event page saw 793 (and counting) confirm their attendance for the show. Unfortunately, only 150 tickets were set aside for the show. If you still haven’t bought tickets, get yours ASAP. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

If Eric Clapton was an inanimate object, he might well be a bouquet of 1,000 roses. Your other half will definitely be exhilarated upon attending a Clapton concert on Valentine’s Day.
Fans can only pray for “Wonderful Tonight”, one of the most romantic love ballads in the world, to be part of Rock n Roll Hall of Famer’s set list.
The legendary guitarist will be supporting his latest endeavour, Clapton, which has received widespread acclaim from critics everywhere.

Iron Maiden (Featuring Rise To Remain)
“Up The Irons,” wrote an Iron Maiden fan on LAMC Production’s Facebook wall.
Well, thousands of Metalheads were pleased to hear that the pioneers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal will be gracing our shores on February 15.
Iron Maiden will also be arriving in style as lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, will be the pilot of their aircraft, Ed Force One. The plane will be carrying the band, crew, and the 10-ton stage production across the world for 66 days.
The band will be promoting their 15th studio album, The Final Frontier. The album has been a hit among Singaporeans, as it debuted on number 5 in the charts.
Founder member and bassist Steve Harris said in the press release, “It’s been a long‐held ambition of ours to play in Singapore and we’re delighted the opportunity has now come around. We’re really looking forward to seeing our fans there for the first time and playing songs from the new album and of course many older fan favourites too! We’ll also be bringing a spectacular live show including the latest incarnation of Eddie who has to be seen to be believed! It’s going to be a really special night.”
Austin Dickinson, Bruce’s son will open the show with his band Rise To Remain. It’ll be interesting to see what the fan reception will be like seeing how Metal purists detest the Metalcore genre.

Deftones
One of the leaders of the modern rock genre, Deftones has been around in the music industry since 1988.
The Grammy winning band will be hoping to electrify the Singapore crowd with their songs off the critically acclaimed 6th studio album, Diamond Eyes.
Diamond Eyes works the way good records used to; each song carries you a little further away from your shitty days until finally, “They can be really amazing,” said guitarist Chino Moreno in the press release. “Like sadness‐ it can be really lovely, or beautiful, or wide there—that real conscious thing, but the emotion builds and it takes us in a lot of different ways. I think that’s what music’s supposed to do.”

Rockers can now rejoice to the fact that the rock deity, Slash, is performing in Singapore for a second time within a span of 8 months. Also, there’ll be supporting acts from Twenty Two Hundred as well as Saxon.
Fellow rock band Stone Temple Pilots will be headlining the festival on the first night of the 2-day festival.
Fans can expect more acts to be announced in the next few weeks.
