Ms Adeline Tay was 18 when she joined the Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps (SAFVC), a uniformed volunteer auxiliary branch in the army. 

Two weeks into her training, she was diagnosed with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder which caused her to lose hair. She was sad, but was also relieved to learn that her condition wouldn’t affect her physical health.

Now, the 26-year-old is better known as “Adelimey” on TikTok. She shares openly about her condition and has more than 25,000 followers so far.
