The Devil Wears Prada taught Nicol at 13 that his life’s calling was to be a fashion journalist. He finally got his chance at that seemingly impossible dream, when he secured an internship (as part of his Mass Communication diploma studies) at Chinese women’s fashion mag NuYou(女友), under SPH Magazines. The time he spent there allowed him to experience the industry first hand, by going for countless events, interviews and of course, doing the editorial work. His other obsessions are K-pop boyband Big Bang and lead rapper member T.O.P., in particular. The true blue VIP (that’s what Big Bang fans are called) is never afraid to express his love for his idols and will spare no time, sleep and expense just to see them, even for a split second. He spent 3 happy day coming within 3 metres of them at one point. Nicol also appreciates good films and television shows, such as Atonement and Grey’s Anatomy, and watches the Academy Awards religiously.
