A firm believer in the notion that world peace would be achieved if everyone was just allowed to start their days in the afternoon, Rebecca writes best in her pyjamas and worst when any of her 3 cats decide it’s time for a nap on her laptop – while she’s using it. The easiest way to get a reaction out of this animal lover is to show her pictures of cute cats, corgis or otters. Which makes it no surprise that her ideal world is one where animals are universally treated with respect and aren’t made to wear frilly tutus for laughs. Having picked up reading as a child, she’s a lover of books and has been known to pay as much as a small family’s fancy dinner for a classic orange Penguin paperback that is falling apart, because she loves the “well-used look”. Rebecca’s a happy victim of wanderlust, wanting to visit all the continents – including Antarctica for the penguins – before her joints are subjected to rheumatism. In her journeys, she has narrowly missed a ski-crash into a tree at Whistler Mountain, cleaned panda poo in Chengdu and seen a woman pee in public at Central Park (like a real New Yorker). Hang out with her enough and you might grow tired of her need to pun everything. Her role model is Saturday Night Live’s alumni, Amy Phoehler and she hopes to be SNL’s pun specialist one day. But before she hits it big time, you can read her attempts at being witty through her tweets @beckywhy.
