It looks like ClubCouture woke Saint Valentine up about 4 months too early. But it feels like a good thing, almost as if to remind everyone that good ol’ luvin’ needn’t come once a year.
Their current collection is a sexy spread of fabrics known for their power to evoke romance, like lace, satin and chiffon. And if that isn’t sensual enough for you, they’ve been sculpted into dress silhouettes that fully flatter the feminine figure, stirring up fond memories of fashion’s momentary Herve Leger obsession.
But if you’re not too keen on a second skin, or if you haven’t been too blessed with enough self-esteem to be comfortable with your not-so-streamlined torso (much like me), the lighter, chiffon dresses are around to make sure your every step, shimmy and twirl turns some heads.
Looks that stand out in this collection are definitely the Keyhole Fit and Flare Dress and the Sheer Chiffon Blouse.
The dress is an adult take on the pretty party frock, with the halter neckline and keyhole detail (such a tease!). The tie-back is especially interesting, and the little bow at the back of this dress makes it adorable as much as it is sexy.
The chiffon blouse, on the other hand, sticks out like an immaculately manicured thumb, with its peter-pan collar. What initially felt out of place with the rest of the rather adult collection makes sense when you realize the blouse creates an interesting juxtaposition.
With this collection, ClubCouture seems to say that you can be cute and sexy at the same time. Something us mere mortals infinitely envy Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O for so effortlessly achieving.
