Gardens by the Bay’s annual Tulipmania is back! This time it’s charting new depths into the cultural diversity of Singapore. Visitors will be able to experience a refreshing take on Turkish architecture and landscape.
The event showcases different iconic sights in Turkey, accompanied by blooming bulbs of Tulipa. For those wondering, Tulipa, is the scientific name for tulips! Once visitors step into the dome, they will be taken on a journey to discover the stories behind the flowers loved by many.
From classic reds and yellows to exotic purples and pinks, the tulips showcased are definitely a feast for the eyes. The festival also features a variety of tulip-themed art pieces and sculptures, as well as a range of interactive exhibits for visitors to learn more about the history and significance of the tulip.
The name ‘Tulipmania’ dates back to 1634 when tulip prices shot up ludicrously in a wave of speculation. Tulips were seen as a luxury trade item back in seventeenth century Europe.
Don’t know which feature to check out first? Well, some highlights to look out for are the Galata Tower and İznik Ware – both serving as iconic sights during the Ottoman period.
With vibrant colours, sculptures and photo-worthy spots, Tulipmania is an ideal day out for people of all ages to learn more about Turkish culture as well as these beautiful flowers.
