She would have loved to study fine arts at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), but Ms Putri Wahyu Desyani, better known as Addigni to her online followers, took her parents’ advice and pursued a physics degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS) instead.

After graduating, Addigni was determined to follow her heart. Having built a good following on Instagram thanks to her lifelike drawings of her idol, Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Strange, she decided to be an independent artist.

To grow her income, the 27-year-old also designs her own collections of enamel pins, featuring chibi versions of her favourite characters from the Marvel universe and Final Fantasy series, as well as members of K-pop boy band BTS.

Catch Addigni’s artwork in this video, and find out from her if it’s easy to thrive as a freelance artist in Singapore.
