$6 movie tickets for a limited time. American Idol fave David Archuletta’s making an appearance here. Those two should get a lot of rushing down to check out The Iluma mall. If you’re wondering were to make a beeline for, regular fans of the vast collection of street fashion at Bugis Street stores will tell you they’ve noticed the unique structure adjacent to the shopping centre that has been under construction for quite a while.

The current economic situation may not be the best timing for an opening, but the Iluma mall is slowly coming to life, with more and more stores finishing their last-minute renovations and opening to the public each day. As of 31 Mar, a few clothing stores, a Coffee Bean outlet and the FilmGarde Cineplex are up and running.

Filmgarde Cineplex
The Cineplex is, like Iluma, very spacious and very cold. Ignore the frigid temperature, and you’ll be rewarded with sound quality that is excellent. Neither too loud nor too soft, the sound felt like it was coming from every corner of the room.
According to FilmGarde Iluma, all 8 cinema halls features the latest JBL 3-Way Sound system, which is designed particularly for ‘medium-sized halls’.
Moviegoers will be able to enjoy this state-of-the-art sound system more when FilmGarde hosts the 2009 Singapore International Film Festival’s Silver Screen Awards later this year.

FilmGarde Promotion!
As part of its opening specials, FilmGarde will be offering all movies tickets at a flat fee of $6 on all days and all time belts at both their cineplexes from Mar 28, for 14 days.
The first 500 online transactions for FG Iluma will also stand to win a limited edition FG Launch Card which entitles them to purchase $6 movie tickets until the end of May 2009.

Terms and conditions apply.

Shops
Those interested in fashion will want to check out the concept stores in Iluma, which including fashion brands such as Mark Fairwhale (Shanghai) and Anybody’s Blonde (Russia).

Aside from FilmGarde, visitors to Iluma looking for entertainment can visit ‘K-Suites’ (popular karaoke chain K-Box’s new concept store), the Black Box (an events space), the Rooftop (for sports) or the Mega Arcade.
Fun can make you so hungry, so if you’re too lazy to venture to the hundreds of food outlets just a little afield, there will be F&B outlets and bars on the rooftop, affording a great view of Bugis. There will also be a few casual mid-range joints such as Coffee Bean.
