Yet another talent contest?

Hold your horses! Before you dismiss this as just another part of the Idol series, let UrbanWire clarify that iTALENTSTAR is not a TV show. In fact, it will be a 16-week contest held online (which some may refer to as “home”), in collaboration with the most popular social networking portal in Asia – Friendster.

Held online? So how will this work?

Unless this is your first time surfing the web (well then congrats for choosing UrbanWire), you’ll know that the Internet knows no boundaries. You will therefore be taking on your pals from 3 other countries in the region- namely Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

But first you gotta beat the 19 other local contestants in challenges like “Glamour”, “Talent”, “Fitness”, “Passion” and “Local”, where you have to take pictures and videos of yourself, create interesting blog posts and submitting them online for judging.

The male and female champions representing each country will then come together to compete for the throne as iTALENTSTARS.

So what’s the big deal?

Ah yes, so what’s a talent competition without the drool-worthy prizes? Thankfully, the people at iTALENTSTAR are very generous indeed. The male and female iTALENTSTAR will each be receiving $5000 cash, a brand new 8GB Nokia N95 phone, as well as a trip for 2 to exotic destinations. The Champions will also have the honour of becoming the official ambassadors of Friendster (and Animax Youth Ambassador’s host).
