Hard to believe, but those voices are REAL

Looking very much like the Italian copy of the Jonas Brothers and sounding like The Three Tenors, Il Volo consists of 16-year-olds Ignazio Boschetto, Gianluca Ginoble and 17-year-old Piero Barone. This trio will simply steal your heart with their larger than life (and rather sensuous) voices.

Individually, they have extraordinary talent and their beautiful voices come together to create something sublimely divine. You will be taken aback by the incredibly huge voices these young men have, but after a few loops of their music video for ‘O Sole Mio (see below) you will be convinced that those voices are for real.

Going Platinum even before their first single was released
I would imagine Italy experiencing an equivalent of Bieber Fever over this Italian Opera Threesome. Their debut album is already a Platinum record that has made it to the top of the charts in Italy and across Europe. The amazing thing about it is that they achieved all of this without releasing a single or airing it on radio. Il Volo was simply booked as an act on three television programs, and Europe fell under the spell of their angelic voices. It would seem that Il Volo is bent on conquering the world as they performed on American Idol’s semi-finals just last week, a performance that left audiences cheering for more.
Move aside, Pavarotti
The songs on this album are not revolutionary, in fact it consists of classic Italian opera pieces such as ‘O Sole Mio and Il Mondo. However, they are refreshed with the vocals of Il Volo injected into them. Their rendition of the Nat King Cole song Smile is particularly moving, and proves that they can sing in English and reach out to an international audience. The three voices are all very distinct and add depth and character to each song, making it a joy to listen to. You need not be a fan of opera to marvel and this work of art, however, you do need to love the music in order to continue after the novelty wears off.
Move aside Pavarotti, Italy has found their new national gem. Let’s just hope they don’t share the fate of Il Divo.
