Captain Your Team- Rewrite the 2010 World Cup (PS3 Virtual Tournament)
“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death… it is much, much more important than that,” – Bill Shankly
The words of the legendary coach Bill Shankly rings true when the World Cup fever peters out over the weekend, making ardent football fans wallow in their misery.
However, The UrbanWire would like the fervent supporters to channel their love for the beautiful game on PS3 via a FIFA virtual tournament called Captain Your Team on July 16 at NP Atrium. The matches will be contested at “The Arena” which boasts a glorious 2m-television screen and a PS3. There will be a total of 4 “Arenas” on match day.
The competition will pit participants against one another as they vie for all 3 points during matches. The winner will stay at “The Arena” while the loser must show his tenacious spirit and try again on another court. In an event of a draw, both contestants will have to leave “The Arena” as well.
Captain Your Team enables contestants to choose the nation they support and take on rivaling teams in a grueling 6 min match based on 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The players are free to switch allegiance and choose other teams if they want.
The competition lasts for a grand total of 2 hours and the participant who chalks up the most victories within that timeframe will emerge as champions.
Instead of raising the coveted Jules Rimet trophy on July 14, the victor will be awarded top priority in choosing a jersey from Germany, France or Japan. The 2nd and 3rd standee will also be rewarded with the National Team jerseys after the winner has staked his claim.
Be part of this event and avenge the teams that were defeated in the World Cup. Make them proud. You don’t have to be a full-time gamer to compete.
