In person, Sabrina Ang is soft-spoken and mild-mannered. But when she morphs into Sabribri in the world of Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), she sure leads like a pro and goes for the kill.

The 22-year-old e-athlete is the in-game leader of Asterisk, an all-women eSports team in Singapore. Asterisk scored runner-up in the Female Only category at last year’s World Electronic Sports Games’ (WESG) Southeast Asian regionals. The team went on to take part in the World Finals early in March and had opportunities to play with the big European and North American teams. While they didn’t manage to win at Worlds, Sabrina said that it was a valuable experience for all of them.

Hosted by multinational giant Alibaba under its eSports division Alisports, WESG is a major tournament which attracts top teams from all corners of the globe. Its prize pool varies from year to year but can surge beyond the million-dollar mark, as it had in 2016 and 2017.
