About the Movie

Beauty, desire, temptations, religion, power and privilege.

Enter the golden age before WWII and journey wide-eyed with the central character into the rich and colourful lives of the aristocrats.

This provocative tale of romance and forbidden love amid social and religious demands revolves around Charles Ryder, played by Matthew Goode (The Lookout) who enters the world of aristrocracy and meets Julia Flyte, played by Hayley Atwell (Cassandra’s Dream). Others in the cast include Ben Whishaw and Emma Thompson (remember Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter?).

Directed by Julian Jarrold, this is an evocative adaptation for the screen by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones Diary, Bleak House) and Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland). Brideshead Revisited is based on the acclaimed 20th century fictional work of Evelyn Waugh.
