Do we know who’s the “better choice”? Do we care?

Are local bands inferior to their Western counterparts?

Back in 1965, iconic rock band The Who released a track that grew to become the quintessential youth rebellion anthem. That song was titled “My Generation”.

The opening line of classic rock song goes “People try to put us d-down, talking ’bout my generation”. It succintly summarised the air of youth counterculture in the 1960s.

Fast forward to today, and tongues are wagging once more about our generation of youths. Labelled by some as the ‘Look At Me Generation”, we’re characterised by our tech savvy, political apathy, self-absorption and impressionable ways.

Others have just stopped short of labelling us as a bunch of drones to be manipulated by marketers, the media and charismatic opinion leaders. But have youths today really lost their sense of critical evaluation?

The UrbanWire will set out to discover this in a 3-part weekly video series entitled “What Say You?”. We’ll head out to the streets to seek the opinions of youths and young adults on various topics like foreign politics, the arts and global issues.

Shot guerilla style, it will be a snapshot of what you care about and want to say. Drop us a line if you have anything on your mind.
