6 young aspiring directors will be in the hot seat to win $1,000 in cash and prizes at the grand finale of YourFilm.SG on Oct 18 at Golden Village Vivocity (Theatre Hall 4) at 7:30pm. The event will be graced by Mayor Amy Khor of the South West District.
Organised by the South-West Community Development Council (SWCDC), Singapore’s first youth film festival saw 24 short films entering the competition, each with their own different interpretation of this year’s theme, “YOUTH-niquely Singapore”, meaning what makes Singapore so unique.
Thousands and thousands of votes later, the top 6 films are:
1) You Singaporean? – by Ms Yan Zixin, Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
2) Singapore Bagus! – by Mr Rowell Tan, ITE College East
3) Neighbourhood – by Mr Lim Chee Harn, NTU
4) Nineteen Twenties – by Mr Elgin Ho, NTU
5) Pirate(d) A Musical – by Mr Shaun Koh
6) Singapore Puzzle – by Mr Lam Chee Leong, Jurong Secondary School
Out of the 6, our judges and 20 youths who make up the jury will select their top 3 choices. The judging panel comprises chief judge Mr Jack Neo, film director and founder of J Team Productions, Mr Kenneth Tan, Managing Director of Golden Village Singapore, Mr Tony Chow, President of the Association of Independent Television Production Companies Singapore and Ms Eng Yee Peng, a freelance TV Producer (Writer/Director) who graduated from Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia) with a Bachelor of Digital Media Production with First Class Honours.
