The plethora of emerging local menswear labels in recent times is a testimony that our men do have sartorial sense. And with some luck and the help of brands like Elohim, ATZU, evenodd, and Reckless Ericka, those on the other side of the coin might finally gain awareness of how clothes maketh the man.

As seen on the runway during the inaugural Men’s Fashion Week last week, the aforementioned brands flamboyantly strutted their Autumn/ Winter 2011 collections infused with a local flavor.

Each of these brands is distinct in its design and philosophy, while paying attention to the everyday man’s fashion needs especially in our tropical weather. Simply put, everything in vogue has been laid out on a bed of roses for the boys. Time to put away the ubiquitous t-shirts, safe khaki pants and rubber flip-flops, and jump onto the snazzy-hombre bandwagon taking cues from the four brands.

This Euro-centric brand was raved by Pop singer Adam Lambert for its flashy cardigans and carefully constructed jackets. With designers coming together from various backgrounds and countries around the region to collaborate, it is no wonder Reckless Erica turned out both edgy and quirky.

This season’s collection is highly recommended for the suave urban lad with its meticulous detailing in the clothes.
