It was as though The Prodigy casted their own voodoo spell on everyone who rocked up to the second instalment of Big Night Out 2009 on Tues, Feb 3, at Fort Canning Park.
Needless to say, The Prodigy had everyone on their feet jumping and dancing their hearts out the whole time. It was absolute fanatic mayhem as everyone went crazy and screamed the lyrics to almost every song.
Supporting The Prodigy was DJ Heavy G, who did a fabulous job of getting the audience on their feet and pumped up for what was to be one of the most happening nights at Fort Canning.
The wait for The Prodigy may have seemed too long for the hyped-up audience but all that was forgotten the moment Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer/vocalist) and Maxim (MC/vocalist) appeared on stage.
Cheers and screams erupted as The Prodigy greeted their “voodoo people”, as they called the audience. Of course, the “voodoo people” were charmed by every song that The Prodigy played, which included hits like “Firestarter”, “Smack My Bitch Up”, “Their Law”, “Poison” and their new song “Take Me To The Hospital”.
For what is their first full-fledged concert in Singapore, it would be an understatement to say that The Prodigy left everyone pining for more. The audience was simply addicted to their live performance as chants for “We Want More” rang out everywhere during the short break the Prodigy had before coming back on stage again.
Hands in the air, sweat glistening their hair, it was certainly a sight to behold as everyone seemed to be under The Prodigy’s voodoo spell.
The night didn’t stop there as DJ Inquisitive took over and spun his own ‘voodoo’ set that kept the fans rocking out till late.
With two fabulous UK acts playing in two instalments at the inaugural Big Night Out 2009, it was a rocking good time for everyone who showed up at one or even both concerts, like this UrbanWire writer did.
Finally, as this UrbanWire writer is still trying to recover from two crazy nights of wonderful music, it’s time for everyone to petition and show their support to make Big Night Out an annual event in Singapore.
We can definitely deal with more voodoo.
