Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom picks up 4 years from the previous film Jurassic World, where the theme park and luxury resort was destroyed by dinosaurs.
In the 2018 sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the Isla Nublar is now abandoned by humans, while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. Former park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and former dinosaur trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from extinction, after the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life.
The action-packed trailer gives a glimpse of the much talked about hybrid dinosaurs, a mix of CGI (computer-generated imagery) animation with animatronics. The part that surprises people is the presence of actor Jeff Goldblum. Making a comeback after almost 21 years, Goldblum reprises his role as Dr Ian.
During an interview in 2017 with The Independent, actor Chris Pratt said: “[Fallen Kingdom] is going to be a scarier version, a little bit darker, and will continue to expand and carry the story forward in a way that is really unexpected and you wouldn’t have imagined.”
The darker theme can be credited to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s director J.A. Bayona, a Spanish filmmaker, whose previous works include horror-based movies such as The Orphanage and A Monster Calls.
Returning as writers for the science fiction adventure film are Derek Connolly and Jurassic World (2015) director Collin Trevorrow.

“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie,” explained Trevorrow during the Jurassic World Global press tour in 2015, on why he chose not to direct any of the upcoming films in the franchise.
Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom is the fifth instalment of the Jurassic Park film series. The first movie, directed by famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg in 1993, was based on a novel written by Michael Crichton.
Published in the 1990s, Jurassic Park was originally a science fiction novel. A cautionary tale about genetic engineering, the book presents a collapse of an amusement park that showcases genetically engineered dinosaurs, to illustrate the mathematical concept of chaos theory and its real world implications.
The story was adapted to have an adult protagonist and turned into the Hollywood cult classic known for its thrills and dinosaurs, of course.
