Before fighting off hordes of zombies this Halloween, you may want to vaccinate yourself against the undead with a dose of Fish & Co’s Zombie-fied Drink when you order the Las Vegas Fish & Chips Set ($18.95) from Oct 20 to Nov 7.
Like the restaurant’s other best-selling Fish & Chips sets, such as the New York or Swiss Fish & Chips, the Las Vegas Fish & Chips Set will be a huge favourite for cheese lovers as the fish fillet comes stuffed with cream cheese and herbs.
As is customary at Fish & Co, our seafood came served in a long-handled silver pan and it was filled to the brim with fishy goodness drizzled in cheese and a side of fries.
The batter was crispy and light and the fish was a dream to eat as it didn’t flake or fall apart when we cut through the thick portion of fish. The cheese oozed out tantalizingly from between the tender fillet and the cream cheese worked very well with the fish because of its texture and a mildly sweet taste that didn’t overwhelm the taste buds.
We wonder how they managed to fry such a huge fish fillet without causing it to split, though the staff hinted at a “special technique”. Our fries were golden and crispy just the way we liked it and dusted with chilli powder for a little spice.
Unless you’re a big eater, the portion is good enough for 2 people to share.
Our Zombie-fied Drink was an ordinary sparkling drink with accents of tangy mango and red granadilla (passion fruit). But UrbanWire had a lot of fun injecting our “vaccine” with the syringe, which gives the drink a pretty tinge of red. This is inspired by the game Dead Rising 2, set in the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada, where the character has to find Zombrex to immunize himself from the zombie virus.
The Las Vegas Fish & Chips Set is available at all 16 Fish & Co outlets but if you want to win an Xbox 360 and a copy of Dead Rising 2, you’ll need to go down to their flagship Glass House outlet at Park Mall for a game showdown in the “Terror is Reality” competition on Oct 30 and Nov 6, every Saturday weekend from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The competition is held in collaboration with CapCom and SoftSource and is open to all ages. The rules are simple: Whoever kills the most zombies win.
What’s more, there are Fish & Co. dining vouchers of up to $50 to be won.
