When a pack of snarling feral zombies surged towards me, my heart skipped a beat.
I was armed with a gun yet I froze in helplessness. I was too gripped by fear to pull the trigger.
What seemed like a spine-chilling scene from The Walking Dead felt like a reality at Universal Studios Singapore (USS) which recently returned Halloween Horror Nights 7 (HHN7). Themed after 7 new incarnations of deadly sins, HHN7 boasts 5 haunted houses, 2 killer shows, 2 scare zones and the latest Zombie Laser Tag Experience.
Dubbed as HHN’s “most technologically advanced edition”, the live-action zombie experience is USS’s first attempt at utilizing brainwave technology in its attractions.
Offering an interactive and immersive experience, a team of 4 would have to navigate through the dilapidated zombie areas while fending off and “killing” zombies with laser tag gear.
“Our teams have put together the latest in technology, science and stagecraft into this year’s edition to create truly original scares and the best entertainment for guests,” said Jason Horkin, Senior Vice President of Attractions at Resorts World Sentosa.
In order to further engage guests, the leader of each team would be strapped with headbands that sense concentration levels. A high focus would unlock clues for a swift escape out of the infested zombie zones.
Aside from incorporating brainwave technology in the parks’ attractions, Michelle Klyne, Project Director of Entertainment, Resorts World Sentosa told The UrbanWire that USS might venture into Virtual Reality (VR) technology in future attractions.
“We are looking at exploring into VR technology with live entertainment. It feels like the next step is to work very closely with technology to create an even more immersive experience for guests”.
Halloween Horror Nights 7 will run on 14 selected nights across five weekends from Sept 29- Oct 29 at Universal Studios Singapore.
