Get your game on this Friday 17 January at Home Club for The m:idea Youth Choice Awards (MYCA), where m:idea awards the youths’ favourite local celebrities and brands!
To commemorate its fifth year, MYCA has taken on digital nostalgia as the theme for 2014. Voters are transported back to when 8-bit games ruled with the newly-revamped site. Watch Robbie, MYCA’s adorable alien mascot, as he explores the 8-bit universe and lands in Singapore to discover the coolest brands and celebrities amongst youths.
The slogan, “Game On”, is inspired by a quote from Helen Keller — “Life is either a great adventure or nothing” — a quote that inspires not only youths but everyone to achieve greater heights.
MYCA has 12 award categories — 6 categories for celebrities, 6 categories for brands. Categories such as “Hottest Girl Crush” and “Cutest Boy Next Door” are still around, and stars such as Rui En, Oon Shu An, George Young and Ian Fang are nominated for these categories.
MYCA 2014 will feature performances by local band Stopgap, rising YouTube songbirds Joie Tan and Vanessa F while celebrities such as The Sam Willows, Oon Shu An and Noah Yap make an appearance.
To thank youths and voters alike, MYCA 2014 will be giving out lucky draw prizes, such as Scoot travel vouchers worth $500, Simple Skincare beauty hampers worth $80 each, Teeth Whitening Packages from Tooth Angels & Co. Dental Clinic worth $1000 and shopping hampers worth up to $100 each.
MYCA will be on Friday, 17 January at the Home Club (20 Upper Circular Walk, The Riverwalk #01-06). The event starts at 7pm while registration starts at 6.30pm. Complimentary housepour, free-flow soft drinks and finger food will be available for all guests. The first 300 guests will also receive a door gift filled with goodies from our sponsors.
