If Jason Mraz wasn’t part of the lineup for SINGfest 08, OneRepublic would’ve stolen the show with their awesome live performance, thanks to lead singer Ryan Tedder, who sang his heart out.
“We’re very excited to see more people than we can count right now,” he told the 10,000-strong crowd, who were singing their lungs out along with him.
“You guys are like the best choir ever!” he added, much to the crowd’s appreciation.
It’s no wonder that the band had all the fans on their feet and squeezed as close to the stage as possible – their huge fan base here in Singapore has helped their album Dreaming Out Loud go platinum, with more than 12,000 copies sold here.
In an earlier press conference, Ryan told the media about the group’s worries about being a one-hit-wonder when their first hit single, “Apologise”, caught the attention of the public.
“When a hit single becomes popular, people tend to fall in love with a song and not the band,” Ryan said.
“Thank God “Stop and Stare” came along,” he added, referring to the band’s following hit single.
OneRepublic definitely knows how to please their fans, as Ryan showed by helping the crowd cool down under the scorching afternoon sun.
“It’s obviously very hot and with all of you squeezed together, it would be even hotter,” he said to the fans, who roared their agreement.
Holding up a bottle of the music festival’s official water, he said, “This is all I have; it’s some Fiji.”
“I’ve been to festivals before. I know this feels good,” he said, before splashing the bottle’s contents into the crowd.
The crowd lapped it all up.
