Over these 3 weeks, OverTime LOL! Wednesdays takes place, with a strong lineup of comedy standup shows in October. For October 5, the debut was graced with the presence of the famous Kumar.
Every show must have a host, and with no exception, this too. Loud and hilarious, show host Noris definitely set the mood for the rest of the evening.
Not only does Noris crack us up with his “showroom” jokes (referring to the different body parts of a lady), he also manages to provide us with non-stop entertainment when he constantly jokes about the fact that he’s a drag queen.
You would think the crowd would feel uncomfortable, but no, Noris’ sense of humour would have them feel otherwise.
One of the main highlights that night was a little “show” put on by some members of the audience. 3 men were summoned up on stage to perform poledances (to an imaginary pole) and swaying their bodies to show all that they’ve got. Although some of them were a little bit awkward and shy, they managed to shake it and enjoy themselves on stage while giving the audience the little “show”.
Apart from the merriment, a contest was being held as well. Participants were required to hold onto either a barrel of beer or a mug of beer (depending on their genders) and follow Noris’ instructions. Stretching their hands out in various directions tested their strengths, and the remaining few who weren’t tired from that would get a mug of beer for free.
After some high time, we had local comedian Faz, and Phil from the UK (who lives in Singapore now) to continue tickling the audience. The 2 were relentless with their crazy jokes and may I advise, if you’re not open-minded, their jokes are definitely not meant for you! However, if you’re looking to just let your hair down for one night without giving a bother about too many details, listen to their personal stories and jokes and you just may have your wish fulfilled!
After which, the time we’ve all been waiting for has arrived…It’s Kumar’s showtime! And my, by all means, do knock yourselves out when he’s out there! With his years of experience as a stand-up comedian, Kumar got all of us clapping and laughing effortlessly. One of his jokes included a story about a girl who wanted to buy a low-cut dress, and how he was rather horrified when he realised that the neckline plunged all the way to her nether regions! You can tell from the faces of people that Kumar was not joking around with his job. (Note the pun.)
After all of the entertainment, it was time for the lucky draw! If you’re lucky, you just might end up like this young lady, who won herself more Starker beer for the night!
Don’t leave just yet! The night is still young and I’m sure all of you can afford to stay out late. Sit back, enjoy and relax while you bask in the melodic tunes of Manning Monika. Their covers of “Rolling In The Deep”, “Price Tag” and “Moves Like Jagger” certainly got me to stay around.
