Get set for another 10 days of glitz, glamour and gorgeous people as the Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 (SFF) takes over Orchard Road this year.
From Mar 23 to Apr 1, expect extravagant runway shows from big names like Marc Jacobs and Shu Uemura to local ones like alldressedup and Lee Hwa as they leave you in awe with their fresh Spring/Summer or romantic Winter/Fall collections.
These shows are part of the main showcase happening at The Tent at Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza, but the only way to get in is to get the free tickets from the SFF website.
Even international models like Anne Watanabe and Ai Tominaga, who have worked for celebrated names like Louis Vuitton, Anna Sui, Christian Dior and Gucci, will be seen on the Singapore’s catwalk this year.
Look out this year for Vivienne Tam as she does the opening of the festival with her sleek and edgy Fall/Winter 2007 collection. Her impressive collections have been worn by celebrities like Julia Roberts and the always inventive Madonna.
In a bid to showcase local designers, WOMB, Nicholas, Individual Expression and Tian will be the 4 local designers to showcase their collections for the Singapore Fashion Rules! show.
Local up-and-coming designers like Vicky Tay from Burgundy and Hiroko Ueno will be able to showcase their work in the Nokia L’Amour Young Designer Fashion Show. The judges for this include Singapore’s Dick Lee and Sharon Lim, editor of ELLE magazine.
For those of you who weren’t able to get tickets, you can still check out the fringe events happening all over Singapore.
There will be runway shows and exhibitions like the edgy and untamed Fashion Playground Exclusive Designer Show-“Davis Eyes” at Marina Square from Mar 16 to Apr 8. Look out for the many events that will be happening like Groove Nation, Puremilk and Quiksilver.
Eco Luxe, which will be showcased at Raffles City on Mar 15 and 24 at 7 pm, is inspired by ecology and aims to create ‘ethical meaning’ through ‘material’ and ‘design’ according to the SFF Website. Although it sounds as though the models will catwalk in paper or garbage bags, their collection is completely fresh and trendy.
Go down to VivoCity and experience Vivo La Fashion happening from Mar 23 to Apr 8. Be dazzled by labels like Esprit, Lonsdale and Lee Hwa as they showcase their latest collections at Singapore’s biggest fashion retail outlet.
The famous label, Harper’s BAZAAR, will be showcasing a fashion photography exhibition from Mar 16 to Apr 1 at the Palais Renaissance. The theme of “Fashion in Focus” will be interpreted by international and local photographers in a “bold, opulent and provocative” manner according to the SFF website.
Don’t forget to look out for the festivals’ after-parties at clubs like Fashion Bar and THE CLINIC at the Cannery. See you there!
