In Singapore, many animal shelters run purely on donations without government funding.

In June 2019, Pets Villa, a nonprofit shelter, nearly closed down due to its $48,000 debt – 3 months’ worth of rental fees.

Local animal shelters are not new to such adversities. Causes for Animals Singapore (CAS), a 6-year-old shelter, always faces manpower and financial issues.

Even Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the longest-running shelter in Singapore, has its own difficulties too.

Hear from CAS and SPCA to find out how they overcome the funding challenge in order to provide for the animals under their care.
