It was all glittery at the Singapore Hit Awards 2010, the highly anticipated music awards ceremony organised by MediaCorp Y.E.S 93.3FM, in its 16th annual run on Oct 29. And no, it wasn’t just the glamourous stage set-up in the Singapore Indoor Stadium that left the audiences highly captivated.

Local artiste Tanya Chua, who bagged 4 awards including Best Local Artiste, mesmerised the crowd with her figure-hugging shimmery dress and patent black heels.

The second biggest winner of the night attended the event in a flowy Kenzo watercolour maxi dress and changed to the said shimmery dress later that night, which she bought in a shop in the US and affectionately referred to as her “treasure”.

Hebe Tien, who represented S.H.E, the biggest winner of the night, didn’t disappoint either. Decked in a black dress with shoulder fringe and asymmetrical hem that showed off her long legs, Hebe strutted up the stage with poise – 5 times to be exact.

Taiwan’s well-liked singer, actor and host Alien Huang, more popularly known as “Xiao Gui”, graced the event in a suit by Vivienne Westwood.

Well-known for his humourous personality, which translated to his dress sense, his suit was one with a twist. Instead of choosing the usual black straight pants to go with his grey vest, he wore a black drop crotch pants with high cut boots. We say yay to his daring to venture out of the norm.

Another artiste who shone that night, in terms of dressing, was Olivia Ong. She wore a short figure-hugging grey toga with organza mesh paired with slim black thigh-high boots – a brave leap away from her usual look.

“I’m usually dressed more casually and not so conceptualised like this outfit,” Olivia Ong told UrbanWire about her outfit that night. She also performed a duet with Jeff Chang.

Newcomer Tay Kewei, who won the Local New Artiste – Media’s Choice, caught the media’s attention in her black maxi dress with a hidden slit. The cherry on the cake is the halter back, which exposed almost her entire back.

Sponsored by local designer Keith Png, who owns the boutique line Koops, Kewei said she was really fortunate to be able to wear this “statement dress” to the event.

“I’m usually super casual. Like, super casual. I do yoga in town and I can go there in just basic clothes and no makeup,” said Kewei.
