Stefanie Sun returns to showbiz after more than 2 years of absence with The Answer Is... world tour, which reached her hometown, Singapore on July 11. According to The Straits Times, 7,500 fans gathered at the Singapore Indoor Stadium to pay homage to the mandopop queen, who is also Singapore’s most well-known music icon abroad.
Fans in Taiwan already had a headstart as The Answer Is… world tour began in May at the Taipei Arena and was said to be one of the most creative concerts featuring rich content. With good word of mouth, a buying frenzy started when tickets went on sale for the Singapore stop, and as a testament to the 31-year-old’s popularity, the concert was sold out in less than a month. Disappointed fans who couldn’t secure a place at the long-awaited gig, raised complaints to the concert organiser, UnUsUaL Limited, which led to the opening of seats that were originally not meant for sale. However, this move sparked a conflict between UnUsUal and Stefanie’s label In Music who was worried that fans wouldn’t be able to enjoy the best visual effects of the concert. The disagreement almost led to a cancellation of the show.
Meanwhile, supporters had communicated to the organisers that they’d be happy with any arrangement as long as they were able to be at the concert venue to witness the outstanding show Stefanie was going to put up.
Unfortunately, the decision to open up more seats was met with opposition from In Music, who insisted that the view from the new seats would be compromised and the concert will not go on if the audience aren’t able to enjoy a full perspective of the stage and its visual effects. After some negotiation, both parties agreed that screens be placed on each side of the stage allowing the performance to go on without hiccups.
During the concert, Stefanie performed many of her signature tunes, all the way from the first track of her very first album “Feel So Good” to her latest yet-to-release single “The World of Fools”. Donning more dresses and a ponytail this time, the singer appeared more feminine and mature than she ever was. After more than 9 years in the industry, the hiatus gave the artiste some time to reflect, allowing her to share about the new experiences she had in that time, when it came to life and love.
Stefanie will head to China to continue The Answer Is… world tour, stopping at Shanghai a day before our national day and Beijing on Aug 15.
