Surviving Covid-19: A Ngee Ann Graduate’s Story

When Damien Tee set foot in London for his long-anticipated graduation trip in early March, he took all the necessary precautions: wearing a mask, washing his hands and staying away from crowds.

The Covid-19 pandemic had spread to Europe by then but the number of confirmed cases in London remained low.

But despite being careful, Damien wasn’t spared from the virus. He came home with some respiratory symptoms and soon found himself in the hospital after being tested positive for Covid-19.

“Not having any physical or human interaction was really tough for me.”

Coping with solitude in the isolation ward was “suffocating”, Damien recalled. But thanks to the medical frontliners’ help and his family’s encouragement, Damien was able to beat the virus by May.
