About My One and Only
Loosely inspired by the episodes in the life of actor and Hollywood icon George Hamilton, My One and Only is set in 1953, New York City. Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger stars as the charming but temperamental Ann Devereaux who has just left her philandering husband Dan Devereaux, a society bandleader. Along with her adolescent sons, George (Logan Lerman) and Robbie (Mark Rendall), she’s taken to the road in pursuit of an affluent substitute partner.

Although Ann is confident that her girlish charms will be as adequate as it was 20 years ago, but 2 decades later, it seems that “the losers and playboys outnumber the eligible and willing bachelors”.

Ann never loses hope, but their trip begins to lose its gleam with ever more modest accommodations, romantic misadventures and a succession of new education institutions for the boys.

With the varied personalities of the trio, the impetuous decisions that Ann makes and the downright extraordinary characters they encounter on the road, they travel down a “narrow highway between excitement and panic”.

Eventually, George finds out the resolution, self-respect and love beneath his mother’s narcissistic exterior. “And Ann makes a different future for herself and her sons than any of them had imagined.”
