Local universities such as the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have always been top choices for graduates due to their prestigious status and rigorous admission criteria. They are renowned for their distinguished faculty, state-of-the-art research facilities, and extensive alumni networks. Students enjoy access to diverse academic programmes, diverse student bodies, and abundant resources. Additionally, local universities nurture strong ties with industry partners, offering internship and job opportunities for students upon graduation.
In contrast, overseas universities in Singapore, such as PSB Academy and the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), adopt a dynamic and entrepreneurial approach to higher education. Specialising in focused disciplines and industry-relevant curriculum, they impart practical skills and real-world applications. Small class sizes and flexible schedules cultivate a conducive learning environment. While their fees are typically higher, their admission criteria are less stringent, and obtaining a degree tends to be faster when compared to public universities. Additionally, some private universities offer diverse programmes and foster partnerships with international institutions, providing students with global exposure and networking opportunities.
